Winning Strategies
A new way of running a business is emerging!
By learning to monitor, control, and constantly improve how employees work, your business is better able to provide your customers with what they want, when and how they want it. This method of operation leads to better decisions for both the customer and the business.
Develop People
The main goal with the "Winning Strategies" is to develop a discipline that incorporates quality and productivity improvements. In order to achieve this goal, begin by developing people. To begin this development, certain concepts, techniques, and methods have been identified that enhance individual capabilities. These are listed in detail in part 2, Key Concepts.
Assessment and Consensus
Before this approach can be implemented, an assessment of your capability is made. Once this assessment, or gap analysis, is complete, then an implementation action plan tailored to your business can be developed.
Preliminary "buy-in" from the Leadership will be needed. Your company also needs to establish a Guidance team. Suggested members would be the President or CEO, VP of Operations and VP of Human Resources. This level of guidance and support demonstrates the importance the business' leadership has placed on improvement activities.
Self-Sufficiency
Another goal is to develop self sufficiency. A "Tiger Team" can train and mentor selected internal employees. The "Tiger Team" would begin the process with the internal team present. The internal team would observe the process from start to finish. The internal team would then work with the "Tiger Team" on the next implementation. Once completed, the internal team would work on their third implementation alone. The "Tiger Team" would be available for help and to answer questions that arise during implementation.
Guidance Team
The guidance team, with the help of the internal team, can also spread "Best Practices" by publishing reports and findings following each implementation. One way to help spread "Best Practices" is for each team to participate in a "Rally Day" where improvement projects can be showcased.
